MinPet2021

On behalf of the entire team that will take care for the organization and the programme of MinPet2021, it is our pleasure to welcome all participants. Despite the difficult times affected by the pandemic caused by Sars-CoV-2-infections (Covid-19), we decided to keep the ÖMG’s regular biennial meeting schedule and continue with MinPet2021 this September. Since 1988, ÖMG organizes the MinPet meeting every second year; only in 1998 and 1999 there were meetings in two consecutive years due to a cooperation with the German Mineralogical Society (DMG). Since then, MinPet always took place in the odd years. In 2021, ÖMG celebrates the 120^th anniversary of its foundation in 1901, at that time as the “Wiener Mineralogische Gesellschaft”.

However, now it is not foreseeable whether we will be able to hold a meeting on site – and under which conditions – otherwise the meeting has to go virtual. Nevertheless, we cordially invite you to participate in this meeting.

We cross fingers and hope to be allowed to meet face-to-face again this September. Then MinPet2021 will be held at the University building “Geozentrum” of Vienna, Austria from 19 to 21 September 2021. If this is not possible, we look forward to a successful on-line event.

The scientific programme covers the complete spectrum from fundamental to applied research in Mineralogical and Petrological Sciences including related disciplines. We look forward to your contribution in the MinPet2021 programme.
