POWDER X-RAY DIFFRACTION AND 3D-ED PARTNERS IN STRUCTURE SOLUTION AND REFINEMENT

Powder x-ray diffraction with its global view of a microcrystalline sample and 3D electron diffraction (3D ED) with its ability to furnish single crystal diffraction data on nanocrystals are becoming powerful partners when a solid state synthesis hides new unknown crystalline phases. In this webinar some examples will be shown where the interaction between the two techniques allowed to solve difficult crystallographic problems, some of them lying on the tables of the crystallographers since years. Interestingly the success of this “collaboration” is not limited to “hard” inorganic materials but extends to hybrid materials like MOF and organic crystals.
